Earshot Terms of Use
Effective date: 21 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the Earshot app. By using Earshot you agree to them.
1. What Earshot is
Earshot reads documents, web articles and text aloud. The natural voices are AI-generated speech made on your device; they are not recordings of real people reading your text.
2. Your data
Your data is stored on your device (see the Privacy Policy). You are responsible for your own backups; we cannot recover data lost from your device.
3. Acceptable use
Use Earshot for lawful, personal purposes. You are responsible for having the right to use the documents and articles you add. Don't reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.
You must not use Earshot or audio made with it to:
- impersonate a real person or present generated speech as a real recording of someone;
- deceive or defraud anyone, including fake news or fraudulent calls;
- create unlawful, harassing, hateful or privacy-invading content.
Exported audio is marked as AI-generated speech. Don't remove that marking to mislead others.
4. Voices and credits
The natural voices use the Pocket TTS model by Kyutai and voice recordings published under open licences; see Settings → Licences and credits. These parties do not endorse Earshot.
5. Earshot Plus
- Purchases and subscriptions are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms, including billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- If a free trial is offered, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. The app reminds you two days before the trial ends if notifications are allowed.
- Prices and what Plus includes are shown in the app before you buy.
6. Changes and availability
We may update, change or stop parts of Earshot, and will try to note significant changes in the release notes.
7. Disclaimer
Earshot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. Notifications depend on your device settings and may not be delivered.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Earshot. Nothing here limits consumer rights that cannot be excluded.
9. Apple-specific terms
If you downloaded Earshot from the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ . Apple is not responsible for the app or its support.
